El Metaverso es el futuro

Metaverso es un mundo virtual que amplía el mundo físico en digital. En otras palabras, es una réplica de la realidad que está pensada para reproducir dinámicas sociales de nuestro día a día. Es un mundo inmersivo que permite a sus usuarios interactuar con espacios, personas, cosas y objetos en él tal como lo hacemos hoy en el mundo real. Esta interacción se logrará a través del uso de gafas de realidad virtual. En términos simples algunos expertos lo definen como “El internet 4D”. 

Metaverse is a virtual world that extends the physical world into digital. In other words, it is a replica of reality that is designed to reproduce the social dynamics of our daily lives. It is an immersive world which enables users to interact with spaces, people, things and objects within it just as we do today in the real world. This interaction will be achieved through the use of virtual reality glasses. In simple terms, some experts define it as "The 4D internet". 

Se define como un mundo o un entorno creado en donde los usuarios podemos interactuar social y económicamente bajo una representación icónica de nosotros mismos (conocido con el término avatar). A modo de ejemplo: podemos replicar el funcionamiento de una fábrica para formar y capacitar a los empleados, o incluso para llevar a cabo pruebas en la industria. También podremos hacer conciertos, reuniones virtuales con gente que está en diferentes puntos del planeta e interactuar inmersivamente. 

It is defined as a created world or environment where users can interact socially and economically under an iconic representation of us (known by the term avatar). By way of example, we can replicate the operation of a factory to educate and train employees, or even carry out tests in the industry. We will also be able to hold concerts or virtual meetings with people in different parts of the planet, while interacting in an immersive manner.  

Ya es una realidad que Mark Zuckerberg (CEO de Facebook, actualmente conocido como Meta) y otros grandes nombres de la industria digital están apostando a esta nueva realidad conocida como Metaverso. No hay duda de que Metaverso ya es una nueva industria que está naciendo y las compañías están intentando ser los primeros en ella. 

It is already a reality that Mark Zuckerberg (CEO of Facebook, now known as Meta) and other big names in the digital industry are betting on this new reality known as metaverse. There is no doubt that the metaverse is already a new industry that is just emerging, and companies attempt to be the first at it. 

Un punto no menor es que no será una plataforma dominada por una sola empresa. Por el contrario, será una suma de espacios interconectados entre sí, de tal modo que el usuario pueda moverse de un espacio a otro como lo prefiera. Para que este funcione tiene que tratarse de un sistema descentralizado mediante el cual muchas compañías aporten funcionalidad para su desarrollo óptimo.  

It is of no small importance that it will not be a platform dominated by a single company. On the contrary, it will be a sum of interconnected spaces, so that the user can move from one space to another according to their preferences. To make it function, it must be a decentralized system in which many companies add functionality to ensure optimal development.  

Algunas de las compañías que harán del Metaverso una realidad son: Facebook, Epic Games (empresa que desarrolló el videojuego Fortnite), Microsoft (software y hardware), Amazon, Nvidia (procesadores), Roblox (videojuegos), Qualcomm, entre diversos nombres que comenzaron a sonar relacionados con el desarrollo de esta industria. 

Some of the companies that will make the metaverse a reality are: Facebook; Epic Games (company that developed the video game Fortnite); Microsoft (software and hardware); Amazon; Nvidia (processors); Roblox (video games) and Qualcomm, among several names that began to sound in relation to the development of this industry.  

Disney recientemente nombró a un nuevo ejecutivo (Mike White) para supervisar específicamente la estrategia del gigante en entretenimiento para el metaverso. Según Bloomberg esto podría suponer un negocio global de 800 mil millones de dólares para el año 2024. 

Disney has recently appointed a new executive (Mike White) to specifically oversee the entertainment giant s strategy for the metaverse. According to Bloomberg this could mean a global business of $800 billion by 2024. 

Mark Zuckerberg recientemente presentó Horizon Workrooms: una plataforma de realidad virtual para teletrabajar que constituye su primera aproximación al metaverso. Es un espacio de trabajo que permite reproducir múltiples aspectos de una oficina física. Se trata de una experiencia colaborativa la cual permite a personas reunirse para trabajar en la misma sala virtual sin importar cuál sea la distancia física entre ambas. A dos meses del lanzamiento de la nueva plataforma social en el metaverso impulsada por la empresa Meta ya cuenta con 300.000 usuarios registrados.  

Mark Zuckerberg recently unveiled Horizon Workrooms: a virtual reality remote work platform that is his first step towards the metaverse. It is a workspace which enables to reproduce multiple aspects of a physical office. It is a collaborative experience that allows people to come together to work in the same virtual room, regardless of the physical distance between them. Two months after the launch of the new social platform in the metaverse boosted by Meta, it already has 300,000 registered users. 

Por otra parte, el banco JPMorgan abrió su propio “salón” en el metaverso argentino llamado Decentraland (plataforma de realidad virtual descentralizada que consiste en 90601 parcelas de tierra). Decentraland ofrece un mundo virtual basado en la tecnología blockchain. JPMorgan abrirá un sub mundo en Decentraland llamado “Onyx” y se tratará de un salón en el que la entidad ofrecerá servicios financieros.  

On the other hand, JPMorgan bank opened its own lounge in the Argentine metaverse called Decentraland (a decentralized virtual reality platform consisting of 90,601 land parcels). Decentraland offers a virtual world based on blockchain technology. JPMorgan will open a sub world in Decentraland called "Onyx" and it will be a lounge where the entity will offer financial services. 

Este banco ha sido un defensor de la tecnología blockchain y su uso en transacciones financieras, como lo demuestra con su propia monedad JPM Coin. El esfuerzo del metaverso representa un paso más en su inversión en la construcción de infraestructura en el ecosistema. JPMorgan es el primer banco de Wall Street que le apuesta a una presencia en este nuevo mundo. 

This bank has been an advocate of blockchain technology and its use in financial transactions, as evidenced by its own JPM Coin. The metaverse effort represents another step forward in its investment in building infrastructure within the ecosystem. JPMorgan is the first Wall Street bank betting on being present in this new world. 

Algunos profesionales creen que los Metaversos son el futuro y que invertir hoy en Metaverso será equivalente a haber invertido en Bitcoins o crypto monedas 10 años atrás. 

Some professionals believe that metaverses are the future, and that investing today in the metaverse will be equivalent to having invested in bitcoins or cryptocurrencies 10 years ago.  

Por otra parte, algunas empresas españolas también ya están apostando por este terreno virtual a efectos de expandir su negocio como por ejemplo el grupo textil Inditex y la cadena de supermercados Mercadona. A finales del año pasado Zara lanzó una colección diseñada para este ecosistema llamada AZ Collection (con la colaboración de la empresa coreana Ader Error). Lo que busca es que puedan vestir a sus avatares con la moda de la firma española debajo de esta colección recientemente lanzada. Se espera que el 70% de las grandes marcadas de España estén en el metaverso en un horizonte temporal de cinco años. 

Furthermore, some Spanish companies are already betting on this virtual space to expand their business, such as the textile group Inditex and the supermarket chain Mercadona. At the end of last year Zara launched a collection designed for this ecosystem called AZ Collection (with the collaboration of the Korean company Ader Error). What it seeks is to dress their avatars with the Spanish firm s clothing under this recently launched collection. It is expected that 70% of Spain s major brands will be in the metaverse within a five year time horizon. 

Otro ejemplo es la marca Balenciaga que recientemente ha introducido sus productos en el videojuegos Fortnite así como también lo hizo Vans dentro de la plataforma de juegos Roblox. H&M tampoco se quedó detrás de esta tendencia y apostó a celebrar un evento para dar a conocer una nueva colección llamada H&M Innovation Circular Design Story. No obstante, las mayores aproximaciones al Metaverso que hay a la fecha son en videojuegos multi jugador online como por ejemplo Fortnite o Roblox. La realidad es que el metaverso todavía no es una realidad dado que hacen falta años de desarrollo (como por ejemplo crear unas gafas más cómodas y ligeras que las que existen hoy en el mercado)00. Poco a poco se irán introduciendo plataformas y elementos hasta que en un futuro no muy lejano se pueda hablar de un Metaverso como tal. 

Another example is the Balenciaga brand that recently introduced its products in the Fortnite video game, as well as Vans did within the Roblox gaming platform. H&M was not excluded from this trend either and bet on holding an event to unveil a new collection, called H&M Innovation Circular Design Story. However, the most significant approximations to the metaverse to date are in online multiplayer video games, such as Fortnite or Roblox. The fact is that the metaverse is not yet a reality, since further years of development are needed (such as creating glasses that are more comfortable and lighter than those currently on the market). Platforms and elements will be introduced, little by little, until in the not too distant future we will be able to speak of the metaverse as such. 

Las empresas están invirtiendo mil de millones de dólares en el metaverso y no se van a detener, así como no se detuvieron con la creación del internet en la década del 1990. Se estima que tardará entre 10 y 15 años en convertirse en una realidad cotidiana, pero sucederá.  

Companies are investing billions of dollars in the metaverse and they will not stop, just as they did not stop with the creation of the Internet in the 1990s. It is estimated that it will take 10 to 15 years to become an everyday reality, but it will happen. 

Se cree que una vez que se llegue al Metaverso tendrá una difusión tan amplia como la tuvo el primer internet. Mark Zuckerberg en una conferencia afirma “creemos que el metaverso será el sucesor del internet móvil, podremos sentirnos presentes, como si estuviéramos allí con la gente sin importar cuán lejos estemos” 

It is believed that once the metaverse is reached it will be as widespread as the first internet was. Mark Zuckerberg in a conference stated: "we believe the metaverse will be the successor to the mobile internet, we will be able to feel present, like we are right there with people no matter how far apart we actually are."
